The effect if your engine oil empty and their symptoms.

One of the most critical car engine maintenance is always paying attention to the engine oil quality and quantity. Therefore we still need to check the engine oil regularly. You can do it by yourself to check the engine oil quantity and quality using the oil dipstick attached to the engine inside the engine room. Here's a complete guide to check the engine oil by yourself: Engine oil check on four easy steps.

The effect if your engine oil empty and their symptoms.

The quality and quantity of engine oil that is always maintained can make the engine works more durable and long-lasting. As we know, engine oil has five main functions to the engine, such as a lubricant, cleaner, heat absorber, sealing gaps, and lastly serves as corrosion prevention.

I. The effects of low or empty engine oil

When engine oil's quality and strength are lacking, the effect will immediately felt on the engine. So what are the consequences of insufficient engine oil? Check out the information due to insufficient engine oil and the symptoms below.

1. A rough sound coming up from the engine

Low or empty engine oil will cause harsh noise inside the engine. It happens because the components inside the engine are less lubricated, resulting in overheat. The friction between the components inside the engine (such as pistons, crankshaft, valves, etc.) automatically becomes louder and rougher.

This rough friction often causes loud noises that arise from inside the engine. Even in some conditions, the engine's rough sound due to lack of engine oil can hear from the passenger cabin. Of course, these conditions make your driving being uncomfortable and feel unsafe.

2. The engine components wear out faster

The other result of low or empty engine oil that can be experienced by the engine is that the engine components wear out faster. Yes, leaving the engine with less oil condition sooner or later will cause engine components to wear out faster.

Low or empty engine oil resulting in poor engine oil circulation, obstruction, or even not circulating in the engine.

This non-circulating oil will cause the engine to run out of lubricating fluid, making the engine components rub without protection. As a result, the components inside the engine wear out and get damaged faster.

3. The engine overheat

In addition to components in a car engine that wear out quickly, one of the consequences of less engine oil is the engine overheat. This excessive heat occurs due to friction and the absence of engine oil which functions as a lubricant and coolant. The result can be fatal, which causes the engine to jam, and the cylinder head is bent.

4. Jammed engine

The worst result of insufficient engine oil is engine jams. Engine jams due to less engine oil generally occur in engine power-producing components such as pistons and cylinder liners scratched so deep. That damage to the pistons and cylinder liners cause the pistons to become stuck and make the engine to stop.

In addition to the piston, jammed engines will also appear on the main bearing and conrod bearing components. These components will also rub against each other and get damaged so that the crankshaft rotation stops.

When this happens, the only way to repair it is an engine overhaul. You must check the entire engine components and replace the damaged parts. It will cause you to pay more money to fix it.

II. The symptoms of low or empty engine oil

Lack of engine oil can be fatal to the engine itself. They have several symptoms that we can know to avoid the consequences that I described before. So, what are the signs of insufficient engine oil? Here are the symptoms of low engine oil that we can find:

  • The oil indicator light turns on, or it blinks repeatedly.
  • The engine sound sounded harsher than usual.
  • On the oil stick, the engine oil level's position is below the low line (L), or even the engine oil line is not visible.
