How to use an automatic brake hold system in Honda HRV

When activated, it will automatically hold the brakes for the driver once a complete halt is made. It offers you more convenience and extra safety.

I. For Automatic Transmission vehicles
STEP-I: Turning ON Automatic brake hold system
- Fasten your seat belt properly, then start the engine.
- Press the automatic brake hold button. The automatic brake hold system indicator on your instrument cluster comes ON, which means the system is turned ON.
STEP-II: Activating the Automatic brake hold system
- Depress the brake pedal until you have a complete stop.
- The Automatic brake hold indicator comes on.
- Release the brake pedal after the automatic brake hold indicator comes on.
- The system will activate the brake and hold it for up to 10 minutes automatically.
STEP-III: Canceling the Automatic brake hold system
- Depress the accelerator pedal while the shift lever is in other than the P or N position.
- The automatic brake hold indicator goes off
- The system releases the brake automatically
II. For Manual Transmission vehicles
STEP-I: Turning ON Automatic brake hold
- Fasten your seat belt properly, then start the engine.
- Press the automatic brake hold button. The automatic brake hold system indicator on your Instrumen cluster comes ON, which means the system is turned ON.
STEP-II: Activating the Automatic brake hold system
- Depress the brake pedal until you have a complete stop.
- The Automatic brake hold indicator comes on.
- Release the brake pedal after the automatic brake hold indicator comes on.
- The system will activate the brake and hold it for up to 10 minutes automatically.
STEP-III: Canceling the Automatic brake hold system
- Depress the clutch pedal
- Shift into one of the gears other than N.
- If you are facing downhill or at a level road, release the clutch pedal will canceling the system. If you face an uphill, release the clutch pedal and depress the accelerator pedal, which will also cancel the system.
- Canceling the system will turn off the automatic brake hold indicator lamp.
- The system releases the brake automatically.
For both automatic and manual transmission vehicles, the automatic brake holds automatically cancel the system when these conditions are met:
- Engaging the parking brake
- Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever to a P or R position
And if the conditions below are met, the automatic brake hold automatically cancels, and the parking brake is applied:
- The driver's seat belt is unfastened.
- Braking is kept for more than 10 minutes.
- The engine is turned off.
- The engine stalls.
- There is a problem with the automatic brake hold system.
III. Turning OFF Automatic brake hold system
While the system is on, press the automatic brake hold button again. The automatic brake hold system indicator on your dashboard panel goes off. If you want to turn off the automatic brake hold while the system is in operation (activated), press the automatic brake hold button with the brake pedal depressed.
