Most vehicles manufactured since the 1990s have a cabin air filter that you can change by yourself. Yes, changing cabin air filter is easy. Sometimes it's as simple as a screwdriver or simple hand tools, and it'll only take you about 15 minutes.

Step 4: Remove the old cabin air filter


There are two filters for the 2013 Silverado 1500 cabin air filter, fitted side by side inside the housing. Remove the first filter by pulling straight down, slide the second filter forward, and do the same procedure.

When you remove your filters, please pay attention to the airflow direction so you can properly replace them.

Step 5: Install the new cabin air filter.

Installing the new cabin air filter is easy. First, pull in straight upward for the first filter and then slide it backward. For the second filter, pull it in straight upward and make sure it fits well.

The most important thing for the new cabin air filter installation is the direction of the airflow. Make sure you're fitted in the filters at the right airflow direction.



Step 6: Reinstall the cabin air filter housing cover and the kick plate.


Reinstall the cabin air filter housing, put the screw back, and retighten with a specific torque. Do the same with the kick plate cover.



Step 7: Re-check the cabin air installation and test it.


The last thing to do is to re-check the installation and test it. Start your engine and turn on the air conditioner. You should have fresh air and better circulation now.
