6 Causes of engine shakes when accelerating

1. Dirty throttle body
Dirty throttle body is the most common cause of engine shake when acceleration. According to the acceleration pedal, the throttle body plays a vital role in regulating the air amount that enters the engine.
Inside the throttle body, there are essential components used to regulate incoming air, such as the throttle valve and Idle Speed Control (ISC).
Dirty throttle bodies generally occur due to lack of maintenance on the air filter, such as being late in cleaning or dirty but not replaced immediately.
A dirty air filter will cause dust and dirt to come along with the air and pollute the throttle body. As a result, all components related to the intake air will disrupt how it works, one of which is resulting the engine shakes when acceleration.
2. Clogged injectors
The next cause of the engine shakes when acceleration is from clogged injectors. In the electronic fuel injection system, the injector plays a vital role in producing a fine fuel spray such as mist so that the atomization of the fuel and air mixture becomes proportional. The effect will impact better engine performance due to complete combustion that occurs in the engine.
When the injector is dirty or partially clogged, the resulting fuel spray injected into the combustion chamber is no longer in the form of a fog or mist (even in some conditions, it will look like a fast-flowing fuel injection).
As a result, the fuel spray is not appropriately atomized and makes incomplete combustion because of too much fuel. This condition causes a loss of engine power and causes the engine to shake when acceleration.
3. Bad fuel pump
A bad fuel pump can also be the cause of the engine shakes when acceleration. The fuel pump functions to flow the pressurized fuel to the injector. This pressure is required so that the injector can have a good spray result.
When the fuel pump is weak, the fuel pressure will drop dramatically. The injection power will also decrease; the effect of fuel atomization is also not good. This condition will also result in a loss of engine power, and a shakes engine when acceleration.

Another cause of the engine shaking during acceleration is the bad ignition coil and spark plugs in the ignition system. Yes, a bad coil will produce a small spark on the spark plugs.

As a result, the data read by the airflow sensor does not match the actual amount of air entering the engine. This condition will cause a difference in air amount inside the engine control unit (ECU).
Too much air due to a misreading of the ECU will cause the engine to shake during acceleration. In some conditions, the engine feels like it is about to stop.
6. Problematic EFI sensors and actuators
The last cause of the engine shaking during acceleration that we knew about was that the EFI sensors and actuators had a problem. Yes, the sensors and actuators on this EFI system play an important role so that the ECU can give the appropriate commands to get optimal engine performance.
When there are problems with these EFI sensors and actuators, the ECU cannot determine the engine's action to produce optimal performance. One of the effects is that the engine shakes during acceleration.
