Water pump failure symptoms - The water pump in a car engine is used to make the coolant inside the cooling system flows and circulating to the entire cooling system components. The water pump pushed the coolant inside the engine water jacket to go to the radiator and pulled the coolant inside the radiator to entering the engine water jacket.

With this circulation, the cooler coolant temperature from the radiator will replace the hot coolant inside the engine to absorb the heat generated from the engine and vice versa. It keeps the ideal engine working temperature.

1. Engine overheats

The coolant brings the heat to the radiator so it can be cooling down its temperature. On the other side, the cooler coolant from the radiator will enter the engine, and replacing the hot coolant was moved to the radiator.

As the water pump fails to operate, the hot coolant inside the engine absorbs the heat and will not move to the radiator. It raises the engine temperature faster and causes the engine to overheats.

2. The coolant won't flow and doesn't circulate well

The next symptom of a bad water pump is that the coolant won't flow, and it doesn't circulate well. Yes, the water pump is used to make the coolant circulating to the entire cooling system.

When the water pump fails, the coolant inside the system will not flow and doesn't circulate well. Even your engine temperature has reached its ideal working temperature.

3. Noise from the water pump

1. Coolant leakage from the body of water pump

The first sign you can see if you have a bad water pump is if there is coolant leakage from the body of the water pump. You can see the greenish or brown crusty look-alike covered on several parts of the water pump.

Usually, it will also appear seepage of the coolant if it looks greenish or brown curst. It means the water pump had eroded, so the coolant leaks from the water pump body.

2. Vibrates from water pump pulley
