4 Causes of car battery light on

Be careful when you see the battery light is on in car while driving. The battery lights on indicate a problem with your car's electric charging system. Every problems on charging system are make your car battery not charging.

Normally, the car battery light is on only when the ignition key is in the ON position. When the car engine starts running, the car battery lights will turn off immediately.

So, when the car engine is running, and the car battery light is on, the entire electrical system in your car only depends on the battery. When all of the electric current inside the car battery runs out, your car will be dead.

4 Causes of car battery light on

The cause of the car battery light being on is generally due to a bad charging system. And the most common problems are with the alternator. Here are four causes of car battery lights on

1. Bad Alternator belt

An alternator belt is a drive belt that connects the crankshaft pulley to the alternator pulley. This belt becomes a driver that will rotate the alternator so the charging system can work after the engine is running.

Therefore, after the engine is running and the charging system is working, we will find the battery light in the dashboard panel will turn off. If the battery lights off, indicating the charging system is working properly.

When an Alternator belt is lost, broken, or slipped, this will affect the charging system's work. It makes the alternator pulley unable to spin and causes the battery light is on in car dash panel.

2. Broken Fuse for charging system

The next reason that the car battery light is on is the broken fuse on the charging system. Yes, the car battery charging system has a safety fuse that connects the battery to the alternator.

When this safety fuse breaks, the electricity supply that flows from the battery to the alternator and vice versa (from the alternator to the battery) will also stop. Termination of electric current from the alternator to the battery will cause the car battery to lights on.

3. Bad and broken connection in charging system circuit harness

A bad and broken connection in the charging system circuit harness can also make the battery light is on in car dash panel. For example, on the back of the alternator, there is a charging system socket.

Anything can separate this socket from the alternator. For example, the locking clip is broken to dislodge by engine shocks and vibrations while driving. The loose socket of the charging system from the alternator instantly turns on the battery indicator light.

4. Bad Alternator

Another problem for the battery light is on is often found due to damage to the car alternator. The alternator itself serves to supply electric current to the battery and other electrical components in cars when the engine is running.

Two components in the alternator are damaged and often cause problems with the car battery lights on. The first is the regulator IC and the second is the carbon brush runs out. That does not mean the other components cannot be damaged, but these two components most often make the battery lights turn on.

When the alternator and the components inside are damaged, the electric current from the car battery will flow through the battery lights directly to the ground/mass. As a result, the car battery indicator lights up.
